QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Chemistry or a closely related field (advanced degrees preferred).
  • Strong background in Olympiad-level chemistry content; prior participation in USNCO or experience preparing students for it is highly valued.
  • Experience teaching or tutoring high school students in advanced or AP-level chemistry.
  • Ability to break down complex topics clearly and engagingly.
  • Passion for science education and mentorship.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Reliable, organized, and responsive.
Responsibilities

ROLE OVERVIEW:

We are seeking a passionate and knowledgeable part-time Chemistry Olympiad Tutor to support high school students preparing for the US National Chemistry Olympiad (USNCO) and other advanced chemistry competitions. This flexible role involves providing rigorous, engaging instruction, helping students deepen their conceptual understanding, strengthen problem-solving skills, and build the confidence needed to excel in high-level competitions. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Design and deliver advanced chemistry lessons tailored to competitive exam preparation, including topics in physical, inorganic, and organic chemistry.
  • Provide individualized feedback and targeted instruction to address each student’s strengths and growth areas.
  • Teach advanced problem-solving strategies aligned with Olympiad-level questions and expectations.
  • Guide students through challenging practice sets, past exams, and lab-based conceptual content (no lab work required).
  • Help students develop test-taking strategies, time management skills, and scientific reasoning.
  • Foster a supportive, intellectually stimulating environment that challenges and inspires students.
  • Communicate regularly with students and parents about progress, goals, and next steps.
