The Scribe serves as an assistant during the examination and treatment of patients under the direction of a physician. Documents and gathers information during the treatment process. Organizes healthcare data to provide better service and efficiency of clinical care. Essential Duties: Manages an iPad or other communication tools at the direction of the physician as the patient is examined. Greet patients in a welcoming manner and makes introductions with the physician. Assists the patients and physician with communication as appropriate and necessary to support an effective, efficient, and positive patient experience. Don and doff personal protective equipment (PPE) as required for patient interactions. Follow policies and procedures in compliance with the health system. Other duties as assigned. Skills, Knowledge, Abilities: Accurately and efficiently utilize communication tools to service physicians and patients. Excellent organization skills with keen attention to detail. Service orientated mindset with ability to build and maintain trust with patients, clinicians, and administration. Maintain confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA. Experience: Prior experience as a scribe. Scheduling experience preferred. Training experience preferred. Physical Requirements: Prolonged periods of sitting or standing at a desk and working on a computer. Prolonged periods of standing, leaning, and walking. Wearing of personal protective equipment (PPE) as necessitated.
