We are looking for a number of PTHP lecturers to join our Professional & Creative Department. We are specifically looking for candidates with experience in Hair & Barbering, Sport or Uniformed Public Services.
As a member of the Professional & Creative team, you will provide a quality, inspirational, learning experience to prepare students for future studies and employment within their chosen sector. You will be passionate about the subject area, working with our students to develop knowledge and skills.
We are an inclusive department and strive to support all students to achieve their goals through practical and realistic experiences. The student experience is at the forefront of everything we do.

EDUCATION & TRAINING

  • Level 3 qualification in relevant subject to your chosen specialism.
  • A relevant teaching qualification or willingness to work towards this qualification.
  • GCSE 4-9 (A*- C) or nationally recognised level 2 qualification in Maths and English or equivalent, or prepared to pass a test before the interview to demonstrate level 2 ability and then if appointed, achieve within an agreed timescale

EXPERIENCE

  • Academic or industrial, or commercial experience in an area relevant to the programme.
  • Ability to utilise Information Technology and Information, Learning and Technology both within learning and for administrative purposes.
  • Good organisational and administrative skills.
  • Experience in Good teaching/training.

Responsibilities
  • To teach courses specified by the Departmental Leadership Team.
  • To participate actively in curriculum development, and where appropriate, in cross-college marketing activities.
  • To participate actively in the enrolment, induction, monitoring, profiling and initial assessment of students or trainees.
  • To devise individual learning plans and provide support for learners in line with the requirements of the course.
  • To be responsible to the Head of Department for student discipline, counselling and guidance for all assigned classes.
  • To be responsible for the supervision and management of students on placements, off-site visits and activities where appropriate.
  • To maintain records of formative and summative assessments of students’ learning, carried out to report accurately on the progress of both individuals and groups.
  • To proactively contribute to the success and vision of the department
  • To undertake programme leadership duties as specified by your line manager or the Head of Department
  • To contribute to course development and keep up to date with any industry or education reforms.
  • To contribute to the development of new programmes of study demonstrating an inclusive and collaborative approach to delivery
  • To act as academic and pastoral tutor to assigned students
