See for yourself why Publix Super Markets, Inc. has been on Fortune’s 100 Best Companies to Work For list.The Publix Technology Services (PTS) Support Technician position will provide IT technical support for the Montgomery, AL area to include primarily repair and preventive maintenance, as well as the installation and lifecycle of IT hardware, encompassing servers, desktop computers, printing, point of sale, barcode scanners, weighing devices, and networking systems. Work schedule will largely be 08:00 - 16:30 at least five days per week. This position is also responsible for rotating after-hours on-call coverage, rotating weekend coverage, and holidays as needed. Exact schedule will be determined by the managing supervisor based upon the needs of the overall team.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Candidate must live in Montgomery, AL area, or must be willing to relocate there upon acceptance of the position
  • Associate degree in information technology or equivalent experience
  • 1+ year of PC/Technical support experience
  • Basic understanding of IT hardware and industry standards
  • Basic understanding of Windows Operating Systems
  • Basic understanding of thermal and laser printing
  • Analytical and troubleshooting skills
  • Cable management and troubleshooting skills
  • Computer and electronic equipment installation skills
  • Must be at least 20 years of age
  • Must have a valid driver license and maintain an excellent driving record
  • Ability and willingness to work an overnight schedule, occasionally for extended periods
  • Ability and willingness to be on call, weekends and holidays as needed
  • Ability to lift to 75 lbs.
  • Ability to climb and work on a ladder
  • Ability to crouch, kneel and work in confined areas for extended periods
  • Ability to use hand and power tools
  • Flexible and able to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently on multiple projects

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Certifications in the field of electronics or Computer Science, such as Cisco Certification, A+ Certification, Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer, HP Certification, or Lexmark Certification
  • 3+ years of PC/Technical support experience
  • Basic understanding of Active Directory
  • Experience using problem reporting and ticketing systems
  • Understanding of the Publix retail environment
  • Good organizational, time management, problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Must be able to work independently and as part of a team
  • Able to work under pressure to meet deadlines
