PUBLIC HEALTH DEVELOPMENT MANAGER – CHILDREN AND YOUNG PEOPLE - REF: SS01125
An opportunity has arisen to support the Walsall Children and Young People Public Health portfolio. This is an exciting and busy role working in a Council and team which have “ensuring children and young people have the best start” at its heart
As Public Health Programme Manager (CYP) you will be a member of the wider dynamic Public Health team as well as being a core part of the Health Improvement/CYP sub team. You will provide leadership and advocacy for health and wellbeing across the Council and amongst partners and support the development and implementation of policy and practice to reduce inequalities across Walsall. You will be required to work with staff, organisations, and community groups to build public health capacity across Walsall whilst targeting support to those in greatest need
In this role you will be supporting the senior Programme Development Manager in the planning and commissioning of the HCP 0-19 service, as well as the commissioning of healthy weight programmes for children and adolescents. You will be taking forward the Council teenage pregnancy and infant mortality strategy actions through which you will be directly impacting on children and families in Walsall
We need you to be excellent at networking and influencing and to be able to demonstrate innovation and an ability to actively take a variety of projects forward simultaneously. The successful candidate will be expected to work in a matrix fashion, maintaining close links with staff in other teams and organisations who are working on related outcomes. There is a requirement to cross cover the work of other team members or pick up new areas of work where necessary. The role requires experience of working in a public health organisation along with strategic public health skills, competencies and knowledge.
