The duties that the incumbent of the vacancy will be expected to perform. Duties Description The New York State Department of Transportation is seeking a highly qualified and experienced Regional Videographer in Syracuse to join our Office of Communications. As part of the marketing and multimedia team, you will play a crucial role in producing, shooting and editing human interest driven videos and stories which effectively capture the mission of NYSDOT. Duties will include but not be limited to: • Filming, editing, and producing videos that communicate important messages, initiatives, or events to the public, impacting three NYSDOT regions. • Pitching ideas and collaborating on all video projects with NYSDOT communications main office and regional staff.• Will work with and often interview government officials and subject matter experts on video projects, while also planning, storyboarding, shooting, editing and executing video projects. Preferred experience: • A strong understanding of videography and photography techniques, equipment as well as the ability to capture footage in various settings and environments • Excellent communication and organizational skills to effectively collaborate with colleagues and meet project deadlines • Knowledge of basic editing software such as Adobe Premiere Pro, Edius, Final Cut Pro, and know how to skillfully edit videos Responsibilities may include serving a role within the Incident Command System to support the department’s response to regional and statewide emergency situations.
The minimum qualifications required for this vacancy. Minimum Qualifications Non-competitive: six years of experience in public relations, social media, and digital communications. Associate’s, bachelor’s, or master’s degree in Communications, English, Public Relations, Social Media, Digital Communications, or similar degree, substitutes for two, four, or five years.
