An opportunity has arisen for highly motivated, flexible individual to join the Public Lighting team to support the Public Lighting Engineer in the overall management and delivery of the public lighting operational function across the County of Carmarthenshire.
As Public Lighting Planner you will maintain and update the column replacement database, ensuring accurate planning and scheduling for the prioritised replacement programme. Liaise effectively with contractors to coordinate and support the successful delivery of column replacement works. Survey and assess new public lighting schemes proposed for adoption by the Authority, including those associated with new developments under Section 38 agreements.
Liaise with contractors for structural and electrical testing of street lighting columns and arrange site meetings with subcontractors prior to the commencement of works. Assess structural and electrical testing results and either certify works or coordinate follow-up remedial actions where installations do not meet the required electrical standards. Develop and manage the column replacement programme using a risk-based and strategic approach, aligned with the public lighting policy and the highway network hierarchy.
Applicants must possess detailed knowledge and qualifications in electrical standards and regulations, electrical installation, testing and inspection and have gained an ONC in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering or equivalent You must have a comprehensive knowledge and working experience of health and safety regulations and practices and a thorough understanding of risk assessments and safe systems of work.
You will possess good communication and organisational skills to ensure the service operates effectively and efficiently ensuring deadlines and targets are met.
