Overview Shape how global policy and geopolitics intersect with technology — and help ensure Microsoft engages governments with clarity, credibility, and strategic foresight. You will be part of a team that sits at the intersection of geopolitics, trade, and public policy, supporting Microsoft’s leadership as they navigate an increasingly complex global environment. Working closely with colleagues across Corporate, Legal, Risk, and business teams, you help translate external developments into coherent insight, positioning, and engagement that reinforce trust and enable execution. As a Government Affairs Specialist, you will monitor and analyze geopolitical, trade, and public policy developments that impact Microsoft’s global business, and transform that insight into actionable guidance for internal stakeholders. You will work closely with Corporate, Legal, Compliance, and business teams to ensure consistent positioning, coordinated engagement, and informed decision‑making across regions and issues. This opportunity will allow you to develop deep geopolitical and trade policy expertise, build strong cross‑company coordination skills, and strengthen your ability to advise senior leaders on complex global issues. This role offers a flexible work environment, with the opportunity to work remotely in a hybrid arrangement. Responsibilities You will leverage partnerships to advance Microsoft’s public policy agenda, as well as establish an intelligence network to support our business objectives and also provide regular counseling on public policy topics, and recommend ways to advance our policy and political agenda. You will represent Microsoft by participating in events, supporting executive engagement along the way and also direct political strategies, provide strategic vision, and develop a communication framework or messaging. You will advance Microsoft’s objectives in key priority areas by forming a coalition of complex stakeholders in and outside of government and support Public Sector sales and market opportunities, and build our reputation as a globally trusted technology provider. You will act as an expert and provide direction on large, critical projects, resolving complex conflicts and ensuring team alignment and also collaborate with senior stakeholders and experts to understand and align objectives, priorities and resources. Qualifications Required Qualifications (RQs) Bachelor's Degree in Public Policy, Public Administration, Political Science, Business Administration, Technology, Law, Liberal Arts, Engineering or related field AND 6+ years work experience in government affairs, corporate affairs, public policy, government, or related area OR equivalent experience Preferred Qualifications (PQs) Bachelor's Degree in Public Policy, Public Administration, Political Science, Business Administration, Technology, Law, Liberal Arts, Engineering, or related field AND 12+ years work experience in government affairs, corporate affairs, public policy, government, or related area OR equivalent experience 5+ years experience in developing and managing strategic relationships to advocate and influence public, regulatory, and technology policy priorities. 5+ years experience influencing, developing, or supporting public policy or political campaigns This position will be open for a minimum of 5 days, with applications accepted on an ongoing basis until the position is filled.
