DESCRIPTION

Washington Analysis’ provides independent and objective analysis and forecasting to the global investment community. Our team delivers actionable and timely research to our clients regarding the investment implications of legislative, regulatory, political, and legal developments.
The public policy research assistant will support sector-specific and special situations analysts in researching federal and state policy issues across sectors and issues, such as energy, defense, financial services, housing, technology, and telecommunications policy, as well as politics. The analyst will track legislative and regulatory activity and respond to analyst research requests. The analyst will also support analysts in hosting topic-specific conference calls and events, and help coordinate publication of team-wide thematic publications.
Compensation and title negotiable based on experience. This role offers hybrid/remote flexibility, but strong preference for candidates in the Washington, DC area. Washington Analysis seeks to promote internally and will be looking for candidates that show a desire and ability to grow into a role as an analyst (Vice President).

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND EXPERTISE

  • Bachelor’s degree plus 1-4 years of relevant work experience
  • Experience analyzing and writing on public policy topics
  • Ability to communicate complex information effectively in writing and in person
  • Prior internship or work experience in research, government, advocacy, or similar roles
  • Knowledge of or interest in the financial markets
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within our team environment
  • Entrepreneurial spirit and desire to help build and grow WA’s policy research business
Responsibilities
  • Analyze policy issues and themes emanating from federal and state government that present actionable investment opportunities
  • Support the research processes of sector-specific and special situations analysts and ensure the publication of timely and concise research reports on various topics
  • Connect policy risks and opportunities to publicly traded companies
  • Identify speakers for conference calls and events, and support execution of calls and events
  • Support the editorial team in reviewing and publishing research, as necessary
  • Assist due diligence research projects on tight deadlines
