QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Public Relations/Information Services or Communication.
  • Five years successful experience in Public Relations/Information Services or other equivalent experience as deemed appropriate by the Superintendent.
  • Must meet background clearance as specified by Alabama statutes and State Board of Education regulations.
  • Such alternatives to the above as the Board may deem appropriate.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Ability to read and interpret technical language. Ability to write reports, articles, comprehensive summaries, and responses to common inquiries.
  • Ability to articulate ideas verbally to internal and external public.
  • Ability to work with basic mathematical concepts.
  • Ability to collect and interpret data, gather and analyze facts, and making rational decisions.

Responsibilities
  • Plans, directs, and coordinates the district’s communications and information services designed to inform employees and the general public about what is happening in the schools and in the district.
  • Provides assistance to the schools in planning and effectuating special programs and events.
  • Develops and maintains a Community Resource Volunteer Program to provide speakers for schools.
  • Trains, recruits, and supervises volunteers in cooperation with school personnel.
  • Coordinates district-wide recognition programs for staff, volunteers, and business partners.
  • Designs, produces, prints, and distributes local district awareness and publication materials.
  • Performs other tasks as assigned by the Superintendent.
  • Maintains confidentiality of information as required by school policy.
  • Maintains and exhibits a high level of ethical and professional standards as expected of all personnel.
  • Participates in in-service training as assigned.
