DESCRIPTION OF WORK
The North Carolina Office of the State Auditor (OSA) is seeking a Public Relations Specialist. This position will be involved with crafting the external and internal marketing and journalism for OSA, with a heavy focus on public relations and social media content creation.
OSA is the state’s Fiscal Watchdog. We hold state government and entities that receive public money accountable, working on behalf of North Carolinians to eliminate waste, fraud, and abuse.
This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) with State Benefits including:

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES / COMPETENCIES
- Documented knowledge of journalism, marketing, public relations, and/or publication principles and practices
- Strong social media skills and the ability to think creatively about how to best engage with audiences online
- Ability to effectively manage multiple social media accounts
- Familiarity with digital equipment including cellphone cameras, digital cameras, microphones, and additional equipment
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, public affairs, journalism, English, or related field from an appropriately accredited institution

An equivalent combination of education and experience
