Position Summary FVRLibraries is seeking a full-time Public Services Librarian for our Three Creeks Library in Vancouver, WA. The Public Services Librarian will primarily focus on adult services while providing a full range of information and program services to patrons of all ages in person, and by phone, email, and chat. Respond to reference and reader’s advisory questions. Help patrons locate information and materials and use related technology. Create, develop, plan and implement programs. Instruct patrons in use of the full range of library technology. Develop and maintain effective relationships with schools and community groups. Promote library services and present programs both in and outside of the library. The essential functions of this position include: * Provide general and specialized reference, reader’s advisory and material selection assistance to library patrons in person and by phone, email and chat. Research and answer complex questions. * Provide instructions to patrons regarding library catalog searching, computer use, technology and use of personal information devices; troubleshoot problems as necessary. * Provide guidance and support to other staff in reference, reader’s advisory, programming, technology use and outreach; assist in the development of new policies and procedures.  * Design, develop and deliver training to staff and the public.  * Maintain and evaluate the library collection including weeding in assigned area using established guidelines and tools. * May manage or plan outreach and/or external partnership activities; plan, coordinate, implement and evaluate branch and community programs.  * Review and assign work to staff within branch or functional area; mentor and train staff, substitutes and volunteers in best practices, standard policies and procedures of branch operations. * Assist in developing and monitoring department or branch budget in a functional area; make recommendations for purchase of equipment, materials and supplies. * Promote library use and services to public, community and patrons through presentations, programs and marketing activities.  * Prepare reports; review and collect statistics related to branch or department operations. * Participate in organizational meetings and committees that further the library’s mission and goals. * Keep informed of current library practices, trends, related technologies, and print and electronic resources by attending workshops and educational programs and reading specialized literature. Education & Experience To be considered, applicants must have * Master’s degree in Library and Information Science from an ALA accredited program or ability to obtain a Washington State Librarian certification upon hire. * Minimum of 1-3 years of related work experience required, including customer service experience. Schedule & Location The schedule for the Public Services Librarian- Adult Services will be Tuesday-Saturday at the district's Vancouver Community Library with the following schedule: * Sunday - 9:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. * Monday - 11:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m. * Tuesday - 10:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m. * Wednesday - 9:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. * Thursday - 9:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. * Friday - OFF * Saturday - OFF After probation ends, only one evening may be required, depending on the needs of the branch. The Public Services Librarian is also expected to flex their schedule to participate in programming and outreach activities.  Compensation & Benefits This position earns between $28.23/hr and $42.35/hr.  To be considered for a starting salary above the pay grade minimum, candidates must exceed the minimum experience requirements listed above.  We have an excellent benefit package. FVRLibraries covers 90-95% of full-time employees’ health insurance premium cost and 90-100% of dental insurance premium costs.  In addition we provide employees with Life Insurance, AD&D and Long-Term Disability Insurance at no cost to the employee.  Employees have the ability to enroll in additional, voluntary life insurance, income protection plans, flexible spending accounts and health savings accounts. Our employees enjoy 13 paid holidays throughout the year. Full time employees accrue 8 hours of sick leave per month.  The initial vacation leave accrual is 11 hours per month; this increases over time based on years of employment. We also offer other types of paid time off for situations such as jury duty, bereavement leave, inclement weather and more.
