Description

COMPANY AT A GLANCE

OpenX is focused on unleashing the full economic potential of digital media companies. We do this by making digital advertising markets and technologies that are designed to deliver optimal value to publishers and advertisers on every ad served across all screens.
At OpenX, we have built a team that is uniquely experienced in designing and operating high-scale ad marketplaces, and we are constantly on the lookout for thoughtful, creative executors who are as fascinated as we are about finding new ways to apply a blend of market design, technical innovation, operational excellence, and empathetic partner service to the frontiers of digital advertising.
We are seeking a dynamic and driven Business Development Director to join our team. This role requires a self-motivated, hands-on professional who thrives both as an individual contributor and as a team player.
As a key leader in our business development efforts, you will be responsible for identifying and securing strategic partnerships with top-tier publishers across multiple formats, including CTV, app, web, native, and DOOH. You will dedicate 80% of your time to identifying and executing new supply partnerships that leverage our exchange, PMP platform, identity/data assets, and CTV publisher product suite. The remaining 20% of your time will be focused on managing and optimizing a select portfolio of key publisher accounts to maximize commercial impact in the region.
You will serve as a key advisor within the business, offering strategic insights into market trends, competitive intelligence, and product innovation while collaborating with internal teams to refine our value proposition. Your role will be pivotal in expanding our market presence, particularly in the DACH region, and driving long-term, high-value partnerships.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • 7+ years of programmatic sales experience in ad tech or publisher-side roles.
  • Proven track record of exceeding sales targets and managing enterprise partnerships.
  • Established relationships with premium publishers across Tier 1, 2, and 3.
  • Strong executive presence, strategic thinking capabilities, and exceptional communication skills.
  • High energy, self-motivated, and startup mentality—willing to take initiative and drive results.
  • Ability to identify cross-functional opportunities and provide insights that benefit the broader organization.
  • Understanding of market trends such as retail media networks, ID solutions, curation, and AI-driven advertising.
  • Technical mindset with a passion for innovation and a deep understanding of ad tech platforms.

DESIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

  • Fluent in German & English.
  • Direct experience in CTV partnerships.
  • Expertise in identity and audience solutions.
  • Strong analytical skills with proficiency in Excel and data interpretation.
  • Strong collaborator who works well in a fast-paced, team-driven environment.
  • This role is for someone who thrives in a high-energy, results-driven environment and is eager to make a lasting impact in the ad tech space. If you are ready to take on a strategic, hands-on sales leadership role, we want to hear from you!

DRIVEN

Ideal team players are results-driven and motivated. They are curious, always seeking more to do, learn, and take on. As proactive problem-solvers, they take initiative without needing external motivation. They continuously think about the next steps and opportunities for improvement.

Responsibilities
  • Identify, prospect, qualify, and close new direct supply partnerships across CTV, app, web, native, and DOOH formats.
  • Drive market expansion strategy and go-to-market execution in Germany (DACH).
  • Negotiate and structure regional and global commercial agreements for supply, data, and platform use.
  • Partner with internal support teams to co-manage a book of strategic publisher accounts, ensuring upsell opportunities and providing industry-leading consultation.
  • Gather market insights and competitive intelligence to inform product innovation and strategic direction.
  • Support buy-side teams with inventory and data pitches to secure and activate new deals.
  • Represent the company at industry events, fostering thought leadership and brand awareness.
