KEY SKILLS & REQUIREMENTS

Essential

  • Strong understanding of eBook pricing models, including DLP, agency, rentals, and discounting strategies.
  • Experience working with publishers and aggregators in the book industry.
  • Familiarity with metadata standards such as ONIX, especially in relation to pricing and licensing fields.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and resolve complex pricing or metadata issues.
  • Experience preparing and interpreting pricing reports using Excel or BI tools.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a methodical approach to validating data and ensuring consistency across systems
  • Strong communication skills for engaging with internal teams and external partners.

Responsibilities

THE ROLE

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Pricing Analyst to join our product team. This role is pivotal in ensuring the accuracy, consistency, and strategic alignment of publisher eBook and courseware pricing across our platforms. You will collaborate closely with internal stakeholders and external publishing partners to manage pricing metadata, resolve discrepancies, and support scalable pricing operations.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintain and validate publisher pricing data, including ONIX metadata and custom pricing models, across multiple platforms and systems.
  • Investigate and resolve pricing discrepancies in collaboration with internal teams (Finance, Technology, Support, Publisher Services) and external partners.
  • Prepare and analyse pricing reports to identify anomalies, trends, and opportunities for optimisation and gross margin improvements.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to retroactively correct pricing issues and implement preventative measures.
  • Support onboarding of new publishers by reviewing pricing structures and ensuring pricing metadata compliance.
  • Contribute to the development of pricing tools and workflows, including bulk uploads and category-based pricing logic (e.g. Core, Secondary, Additional), in multiple currencies.
  • Monitor and apply publisher-specific pricing rules, such as rental period configurations, discount codes, and DLP modifiers 
  • Maintain the internal pricing matrix and ensure data consistency, version control, and timely responses to pricing-related queries.
  • Partner with Product and Technology teams to define, document, and refine product pricing strategies in alignment with overall business objectives and market trends.
  • Contribute to market and customer insights gathering to inform pricing decisions and continuous improvements.
