This position involves assisting the Farm Supervisor, Pullet and Breeder Technicians, and Breeder Manager with several tasks. Responsibilities include coordinating the collection of blood samples and serum, ensuring they are delivered to the lab on schedule. The candidate will also transport pullet and breeder supplies, provide support during chick placements and vaccinations, and assist with any additional duties as necessary. Key responsibilities include monitoring flock health, administering vaccines, weighing birds to manage feed, and delivering diagnostic samples to state laboratories. This role also requires traveling between farms to provide essential support. Qualifications * A valid driver’s license is required for travel between farms. * You will be expected to follow all biosecurity and animal welfare policies. The role involves the ability to frequently lift and move up to 75 lbs. and to stand, walk, or stoop for extended periods. * Good communication skills are essential. You will communicate with the Breeder Manager, Farm Supervisor, Breeder, Pullet Technicians, other farm team members, Contract Farm Owners/Managers, and Contract Crew Members. Knowledge of Spanish is a plus. * Your responsibilities include monitoring poultry health by collecting blood and fat samples from chickens (pullets/hens) according to strict schedules. You will collect these samples before processing and prepare and transport them to the Georgia Poultry Lab. Additionally, you will administer vaccines and monitor overall flock health following a set schedule. * Please be aware that you will be exposed to chicken house environments, which include dust, noise, and varying temperatures. You must be available to work on weekends, nights, and holidays, especially during grain train arrivals. * You should communicate any issues to the Breeder/Hatchery Manager as they arise and seek guidance when unsure about decisions. It is crucial to report all health issues immediately and transport samples to the lab for health monitoring.
