MPA are retained by a leading Cardiology & Diagnostic Services organization to recruit for a Pulmonary Function Technologist to join their Newmarket clinic. The client is part of a large group and is one of the largest diagnostic services firms with clinics nationwide across Canada.
The client is looking for a skilled and certified Full-Time Pulmonary Function Technologist who will be responsible for pulmonary-function, lung-capacity, diffusion capacity, and blood-and-oxygen tests to gather data for use by physician in diagnosis and treatment of pulmonary disorders.
QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE & REQUIREMENTS:
· 0-2 years of related experience.
· Current CPR certificate.
· Vmax system experience is an asset.
· An associate degree in respiratory therapy from an accredited program
· PFT testing experience in a body box setting would be an asset.
· Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
· Demonstrated commitment to continuing education and training.
· Demonstrate effective decision-making skills and problem-solving abilities.
· Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.

· Provide accurate and efficient administrative support to the management team of the department, while ensuring the day-to-day operations are managed, coordinated, and performed.
· Responsible for ensuring patient identification, safety and preparation are correct prior to a scan while maintaining patient confidentiality.
· Greet patient, explain forthcoming test, position patient and prepare him/her for examination.
· Performs pulmonary-function, lung-capacity, diffusion capacity, and blood-and-oxygen tests to gather data for use by physician in diagnosis and treatment of pulmonary disorders: Confers with patient in treatment room to explain test procedures.
· Explains specified methods of breathing to patient and conducts pulmonary-function tests, such as helium dilution and pulmonary mechanics, arterial blood gas analyses, and lung-capacity tests, such as vital capacity and maximum breathing capacity tests, using spirometer or other equipment.
· Measures expired air, using various analyzers.
· Observes and records readings on metering devices of analysis equipment and conveys findings of tests and analyses to physician for interpretation.
· Observe patient during the diagnostic procedure, making note of any symptoms or changes in vital signs and summon medical aid when necessary.
· Ensure all quality control assessments are performed as required. Takes all reasonable precautions and work in compliance with related policies, health and safety legislation and best practices.
· Follow procedures for proper equipment maintenance are completed in accordance with department standards.
· Ensure equipment and instruments are performing in an efficient and effective manner.
· Prepare and organize reports as required.
· Other duties as assigned.
