REQUIREMENTS
College Diploma in Respiratory Therapy or Bachelor of Science Degree in Physiology, Biology or Kinesiology or equivalent or, Major Medical Technologies Registration (of Canadian Society of Respiratory Therapists (CSRT), Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT), Canadian Society of Medical Laboratory Science (CSMLS) or a Bioscience Diploma).
Certification as a Registered Cardio-Pulmonary Technologist in the field of pulmonary technologiy or current registration in good standing with the College of Respiratory Therapists.
A member in good standing with the Canadian Association of Cardio-Pulmonary Technologist (CACPT) required.
Minimum of 6 months of full-time experience (975 hours) experience in a Pulmonary Function Lab preferred.
Experience with the Vyntus, Vmax and SentrySuite preferred.
TEACH Certificate in smoking/tobacco cessation counselling, or willing to obtain within 6 months of hire.
Certified Tobacco Educator designation (CTE) an asset.
Current BCLS required.
Certified Respiratory Educator is an asset.
Knowledge and proficiency with MS Office applications including Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word.
Strong technical and trouble-shooting skills
Excellent interpersonal, communication, and documentation skills.
Ability to work both autonomously and as an effective team member.
Proven attendance and punctuality.
Professional behavior and communication that meets the standards of the professional regulatory college or association, as applicable, and the standards of Women’s College Hospital.

Responsibilities:
An exciting Temporary Full-Time (6 months) opportunity as a Pulmonary Function Technoloigst exists in the Pulmonary Function Lab, reporting to the Clinical Manager. WCH Respirology is an ambulatory care weekday operations department with operating hours within 7:30am to 5:00pm.
Summary of Duties, but not limited to:
Administer pulmonary function testing inclusive of spirometry, diffusion capacity, lung volumes by plethysmography, maximal pressures, airways resistance, home oxygen assessments, methacholine challenge testing, ABGs* (* if holding RRT designation and has met the requirements as outlined in the pulmonary function lab standard practices)
Performs all tests currently offered in the Pulmonary Function Lab.
Provides smoking/tobacco cessation counselling, and education regarding respiratory health and medications to patients.
Teaches health discipline students and medical clerks/residents.
Uses clear communication and communication strategies respectfully and clearly to other members of the healthcare team, to enhance care coordination, collaboration and common understanding of patient care.
Actively supports coordination and collaboration of care planning and delivery, encouraging input from all appropriate team members, to achieve goals.
Documents key information in electronic/paper records accurately and up to date in real time so team members accessing the patient record have the most current information
Maintains clear, accurate, concise and comprehensive records of patient encounters in the legal medical record according to Regulatory College and Women’s College Hospital standards of documentation.
Provides support to patients in diverse areas such as the Acute Ambulatory Care Unit and Medical Clinical areas.
Acts as an advocate for safety and demonstrates principles, practices and processes that will optimize a safe environment for all.
Establishes and maintains rapport with patients, and collaborates with a multi-disciplinary team.
Ensure that equipment and administrative issues are addressed and communicated with the charge pulmonary function technologist and resolved in a timely manner Review schedules daily to ensure that the lab is functioning efficiently.
Integrate safe, best practices into daily activities to foster the delivery of safe and exemplary care.
