Description
Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh is hiring a Pulmonary Technologist to work at the main hospital in Lawrenceville. The Pulmonary Technologist performs pulmonary function tests as ordered by physicians in order to assist in the diagnosis of respiratory diseases. Performs technical and service duties necessary for the proper and continuing readiness of the Lab. Responsibilities: Operates and monitors pulmonary function equipment, making adjustments and calibrations as needed. Cleans and sterilizes equipment according to established guidelines. Reviews test results to insure accuracy. Provides for and maintains professional growth, orients/precepts, attends and may teach classes. Performs pulmonary function tests (explains procedures to patients, families), and prepares patients for the test. Assists physicians with bronchoscopies Graduate of a Co ARC (Committee on Accreditation for Respiratory Care) approved Respiratory program required. Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) license in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania required Basic Life Support or Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation required. Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRTT) from the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) required prior to expiration of temporary practice permit Respiratory therapists who receive their CRT credential from the NBRC after July 1, 2002 are required to maintain certification under the NBRC requirements. Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances: Certified Pulmonary Function Technologist preferred.
