Position: Full-Time Pulmonary Wellness Instructor
Location: UPMC Williamsport Pulmonary Rehab, Williamsport, PA
Schedule: Four 10-hour days, Monday through Friday, from 6:30 AM to 4:30 PM (No holidays required; schedule may be subject to change)

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Education:


    • Graduate of an American Medical Association-accredited respiratory Therapy training program.

    • Associate’s degree in respiratory therapy or Applied Science required (Bachelor’s preferred).
    • Alternatively, candidates can be grandfathered through the registry as a Registered Respiratory Therapist, Registered Nurse, Licensed Practical Nurse, or Exercise Physiologist (ACSM-EP or ASEP credentialed).
    • Two years of experience in pulmonary rehab preferred.

    ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

    • Current licensure in the state where the facility is located or, if the facility is in a state covered by the multistate Nursing Licensure Compact (NLC) agreement, a multistate license issued by a participating NLC state.
    • Hires and current employees working on an out-of-state NLC license who later change their residency to the state where the facility is located will have 60 days upon changing their residency to apply for licensure within that state.
    Responsibilities
    • Program Development:


      • Develop, implement, and monitor a comprehensive pulmonary wellness program for both inpatients and outpatients.

      • Engage in program marketing and provide education to patients and their families.
      • Clinical Operations:


        • Collaborate with physicians to develop individualized treatment plans.

        • Maintain community contacts that support the pulmonary wellness model and UPMC Susquehanna’s goals.
        • Ensure high-quality, safe work practices and encourage others to uphold similar standards.
        • Identify and address processes that could lead to inefficiencies, unsafe conditions, or errors.
        • Promote patient and family involvement in safety processes.
        • Report unsafe conditions or events immediately and participate in projects to reduce risk or mitigate harm.
        • Follow all organizational and departmental policies and procedures.
        • Patient Care:


          • Orient and evaluate patients in collaboration with physicians.

          • Provide systematic educational programs addressing exercise, risk factor modification, diet, and counseling.
          • Maintain necessary state licensure for the position.
          • Documentation and Compliance:


            • Develop and maintain all necessary orders and protocols for the successful operation of the program.

            • Ensure accurate documentation of statistics, policies, procedures, and financial records.
