POSITION OVERVIEW:

We are looking for a highly skilled Pump Mechanic with 5 to 10 years of solid experience in maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing a variety of industrial pumps and rotating equipment. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of pump systems and related components, demonstrating strong mechanical expertise in both shop and field environments.
You will play a critical role in maintaining operational reliability by performing preventive maintenance, diagnosing failures, and executing repairs to keep our pumping systems running efficiently and safely.

EDUCATION:

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Technical or vocational training in mechanical maintenance, industrial mechanics, or related fields preferred

EXPERIENCE:

  • 5 to 10 years of hands-on experience working with industrial pumps and rotating equipment
  • Strong background with multiple pump types including centrifugal, positive displacement, submersible, and vertical turbine
  • Experience in industrial environments such as manufacturing, chemical processing, wastewater, oil & gas, or power generation
  • Skilled in pump alignment, mechanical seal installation, bearing replacement, and troubleshooting mechanical failures

SKILLS & ATTRIBUTES:

  • Excellent mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
  • Proficient in the use of hand tools, precision measurement tools (micrometers, calipers, dial indicators)
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical and electrical schematics and technical manuals

  • Able to work independently and as part of a maintenance team
  • Physically fit to handle heavy lifting, confined space entry, and work in various weather conditions

Responsibilities
  • Disassemble, inspect, diagnose, repair, and rebuild centrifugal, positive displacement, diaphragm, gear, submersible, and vertical turbine pumps
  • Perform precision alignment of pumps and motors using laser and dial indicators to ensure optimal operation
  • Replace and install bearings, seals, shafts, impellers, couplings, gaskets, and other pump components
  • Troubleshoot mechanical failures and root cause issues related to pumps and auxiliary equipment
  • Conduct routine and preventive maintenance on pump systems, including lubrication, seal replacement, and vibration checks
  • Perform operational testing and performance verification on repaired pumps to ensure compliance with specifications
  • Read and interpret mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, OEM manuals, and technical documents
  • Maintain detailed maintenance logs, parts inventories, and service records within CMMS or similar systems
  • Assist with installation, commissioning, and start-up of new pump equipment
  • Coordinate with other maintenance trades, engineers, and vendors for major repairs and system upgrades
  • Support shutdowns, turnarounds, and emergency repairs as needed
  • Comply with all safety policies, including confined space entry, lockout/tagout (LOTO), and PPE requirements
