KM Lynskey Contracting are seeking a Purchaser / Buyer to join our expanding team in the main contracting division of the business.
The successful candidate will have purchasing experience within a main contractor with at least three years’ relevant experience, strong communication skills, and a high level of attention to detail. If you are motivated and eager to take your career to the next level our rapidly growing construction team will give you the ability to do so.
Location – Ballycoolin Office, North Dublin
Contract – Full time

Purchaser / Buyer Responsibilities include the following non-exhaustive list:

  • To procure, expedite and schedule deliveries of materials and services to all sites in accordance with programme of works, as per requisitions from other departments include Quantity Surveyors, Contracts Mangers and Site Management.
  • Negotiate pricing contracts with vendors.
  • Reviewing all requisition orders from each site, and determining which supplier to order which material requested from
  • Issue purchase orders for procurement / plant and expedition of materials and equipment for jobs.
  • Maintain a good working relationship with clients
  • Ensure compliance to project budgets / specifications and provide analysis of deviations where required.
  • Research new materials for design and cost savings where applicable.
  • Maintain supplier’s details / payment terms and vendor performance documents.
  • Maintain and establish relationships with suppliers to ensure adequate resources for all projects and to continually improve pricing and quality of material/service
  • Assist in invoice processing and passing / disputes.
  • Forecast upcoming demand.
  • Manage materials / plant inventory.
  • Ensure that the company directors are immediately informed of significant events that might affect the progress of the works or expose the company to risk of damage or loss in any of its activities.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS

  • Experience as a purchaser / buyer within a main contracting construction firm
  • In depth knowledge of materials and product required for general building projects
  • Strong I.T skills are essential. (Microsoft Suite including Project)
  • Experience of ERP system such as SAP or COINS would be an advantage.
  • Ability to prioritise workload effectively so that urgent tasks can be dealt with speedily and accurately
  • Good interpersonal skills and collaborative approach to liaise effectively with other relevant departments and site teams

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Completed second level education – third level qualification in relevant area an advantage
  • A minimum of 3 years’ proven experience in purchasing including experience of construction sector
