Our plumbers are Alberta, certified journeypersons, and our apprentices are registered. All of our plumbing and heating technicians are experts in troubleshooting, best practices, and maintenance.
Ram Mechanical is seeking a Construction Purchaser for commercial jobs and projects in the Edmonton region. The Construction Purchaser will play a key role in supporting field operations by managing the procurement of plumbing and mechanical materials, tools, and equipment for construction projects. You will work closely with project managers, site supervisors, and vendors to ensure materials are delivered on time, on budget, and in alignment with project specifications.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 2–5 years of purchasing experience in a construction environment (preferably in mechanical, plumbing, or HVAC trades).
  • Knowledge of mechanical/plumbing materials and terminology.
  • Experience with purchase order systems and Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, etc.).
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specs is required.
  • Valid driver’s license (occasional supplier/site visits may be required).
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and time management skills.
  • Experience working in a very fast-paced, self-directed, and dynamic work environment.
  • Demonstrated positive relationships with internal/external customers and stakeholders.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication with diverse stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
  • Positive attitude and a desire for continuous improvement for self and the organization.
  • Strong attention to detail with a high level of accuracy, reliability, and willingness to take initiative.
  • Strong multitasking ability, organizational skills, and ability to prioritize tasks to meet tight deadlines.

Responsibilities
  • Purchase construction materials for plumbing, HVAC, and mechanical systems.
  • Review project drawings and specifications to forecast material needs.
  • Shop drawing processing.
  • Coordinate and track material deliveries to job sites.
  • Maintain positive relationships with suppliers and negotiate pricing, terms, and delivery schedules.
  • Monitor inventory levels and ensure availability of materials to meet project timelines.
  • Assist in preparing purchase orders, RFQs, and submittals.
  • Resolve material shortages, delivery delays, or quality issues.
  • Ensure compliance with company purchasing procedures and budgets.
  • Work closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, and Foremen, to align purchasing with project schedules.
