JOB DESCRIPTION

Status – Full Time Regular
Salary - $65,000 - $75,000 annual

As one of Kelowna’s largest, most established Mechanical Contractors, Kal-West Mechanical Systems Inc. are looking to add a full-time procurement specialist to our project team to ensure consistent, cost-effective supply of materials to our growing list of projects in our trading area.

POSITION OVERVIEW

The purchaser/buyer will work with our project teams and local distributors to ensure timely and cost-effective material availability on projects.

REQUIREMENTS

· Strong knowledge of plumbing/piping materials and pricing
· Experience in negotiating pricing with vendors
· Strong working knowledge of purchasing procedures
· Ability to analyze and compare vendor proposals to ensure accuracy of bids
· Strong interpersonal skills to engage with team members, suppliers and industry peers
· Successful completion of a supply chain management program would be an asset but is not a requirement for this position

· Work with local distributors on pricing for day-to-day material commodity purchases
· Communicate daily with field foremen/superintendents on just-in-time product deliveries to site and/or our local shop
· Establish and maintain inventory of consumables to be stored locally in our warehouse
· Negotiate large, bulk material purchases for major projects
· Work with our estimating department to ensure accurate costing for bids
· Communicate with warehouse and field staff to track and manage back-ordered materials
· Meet with local distributors to strengthen relationships and build a keen understanding of strengths and weaknesses of local suppliers
· Process and manage returns of excess product and/or damaged/non-compliant product
