Description

This position plays a key role in supporting the Technical Buyer in day-to-day operations through proactive use of ERP systems and data-driven decision-making. While not heavily customer-facing, it is a critical back-office function that ensures smooth material planning, vendor coordination, and compliance management, directly impacting production efficiency and business performance. The role offers the opportunity to contribute strategically by optimizing processes, improving vendor management, and enabling informed purchasing decisions across the organization.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

  • 5+ years’ experience in material planning and purchasing in a manufacturing environment
  • Certification in Production and Inventory Management is preferred. (CPIM or equivalent) or equivalent work experience.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.)
  • Detailed understanding of materials operations, materials planning and inventory control
  • Experience in utilizing ERP systems (Infor LN preferred); ability to use or develop other planning tools as required.
  • Experienced in pricing / contract negotiation.
  • Strong interpersonal influence and ability to build strong business partnerships.
  • Results-oriented professional able to solve problems and implement change.
  • Strong analytical, time management, organizational skills.
  • Confident verbal and written communication skills.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of industry best practices.Technical knowledge of company products and industry applications.

Responsibilities
  • Works closely with the ERP and Operations Specialist and Production Manager, using our ERP system, to determine purchased material requirements.
  • Prepares and releases purchase orders for standard and build to print components, equipment and or supplies.
  • Solicits quotes via websites, telephone, email, etc. and compares and analyzes pricing to determine best value.
  • Research and development of new and current suppliers.
  • Gather and develop product compliance information and data. i.e., UL, RoHS2, Conflict Materials etc.
  • Participate in, or lead, Material Review Board (MRB) discussions.
  • Arrange for transportation, import and export of goods.
  • Follows pre-existing reorder points, forecast or instructions to determine timing and quantity component purchase orders.
  • Monitors on time delivery and contacts suppliers to resolve missed delivery dates.
  • Prepares reports using ERP or Excel.
  • Contacts vendors regarding RMA’s.
  • Communicates effectively interdepartmentally regarding material availability and or issues.
  • Plan material availability for production based on the sales forecast.
  • Continuously work to improve purchasing and vendor management to help Boltswitch - Socomec best meet its goals.
  • Oversee management of ongoing contracts with vendors and suppliers.
  • Proactively perform financial and material procurement analysis and make recommendations to management.
  • Maintain knowledge of current techniques and tools in industry, and take responsibility to initiate and implement changes
  • Manage ERP inputs and outputs as required.
  • Inventory and cycle count management.Perform other duties as requested, directed, or assigned.
