Description Job Summary: The Purchasing Manager is responsible for overseeing the procurement activities within the manufacturing facility. This role involves developing procurement strategies, managing supplier relationships, and ensuring the timely and cost-effective acquisition of materials and services. Responsibilities: Develop and implement procurement strategies to ensure cost-effective and timely acquisition of materials and services. Identify, evaluate, and select suppliers based on quality, cost, and delivery performance. Negotiate contracts, terms, and pricing with suppliers to achieve the best value for the company. Monitor supplier performance and address any issues related to quality, delivery, or cost. Collaborate with production, engineering, and quality teams to ensure materials meet specifications and production requirements. Manage inventory levels to optimize stock and reduce excess inventory. Conduct market research to stray informed about industry trends and potential new suppliers. Prepare and present procurement reports and analysis to senior management. Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and ethical standards. Mentor and train procurement staff. Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices. Requirements Education & Experience: Bachelors degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field. Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM) or Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM) certification preferred. 7-10 years of procurement experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment. Skills & Abilities: Strong understanding of procurement principles and practices. Excellent negotiation and contract management skills. Proficiency in procurement software and ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite). Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Effective communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Knowledge of manufacturing processes and supply chain management. Strong organizational and time management skills. Leadership and mentoring skills. Familiarity with global sourcing and international trade regulations. Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines. Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and processes. Work Environment: Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds with or without assistance. Must be able to access all areas of the facility to determine purchasing needs. Must be able to travel including occasional weekend travel.
