REQUIREMENTS |

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, logistics, or procurement preferred
  • Significant experience in the Food Industry and 2-3 years minimum experience as a purchasing manager
  • Supervisory/management experience
  • Knowledge of the BRC Food Safety and Quality standard
  • Excellent interpersonal & communication skills
  • Creative thinker with a “can do” attitude
  • Strong IT skills

Responsibilities

THE ROLE |

  • The Purchasing Manager is responsible for the effective and efficient procurement within our food manufacturing business. You will conduct correct analysis and planning to ensure consistent raw material supply to production. Understanding the current food manufacturing practices /regulatory guidelines, and work within budget to satisfy customer requirements.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES |

  • Responsible for developing and implementing the purchasing strategy
  • Intelligent raw material sourcing of good quality, sustainable products at competitive pricing
  • Negotiating contracts with suppliers
  • Liaise with the Quality and Technical Manager on new suppliers and materials
  • Ownership of purchase orders and goods intake procedures
  • Responsible for material planning for manufacturing and having an understanding of customer ordering patterns, plant and warehouse capacity, lead-times and raw material stock holding.
  • Work with the Operations Manager for achieving utilisation goals, production standards and scrap rates to meet or exceed the metric goals and on time delivery.
  • Identify and assist in resolving quality issues and material delays.
  • Ensure processes and controls are in place to operate efficiently.
  • Participating in and being actively involved in improving the stock taking process.
  • Develop the IT systems to work in the best way for efficiency of the supply chain.
  • Improving the overall supply chain performance. Implementing new technologies and staying alert to new trends in the sector.
  • Maintain a clean and neat working environment, ensuring high standards of housekeeping. Instil within the Company a sense of awareness and pride regarding plant appearance and product care.
  • Promote and actively engage in an environment of compliance, continuous improvement, responsiveness to change and innovation within the Company.
