Description

SUMMARY:

Responsible for the management of company purchases by forwarding orders to suppliers, and monitoring and expediting orders. This position verifies the receipt of items by comparing items received to items ordered and resolves shipments in error with suppliers. This role authorizes payment for purchases by forwarding received documentation.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
· Manages current purchasing procedure and processes
· Interfaces with multiple departments across a company-wide discipline
· Designs, improves and streamlines purchasing processes
· Develops vendor approval criteria and evaluates the suppliers against criteria
· Interfaces with vendors to evaluate proposals, products, and services
· Analyzes quotes and vendor proposals and makes vendor selections
· Conducts bids, process purchasing order and reconcile any invoice discrepancies
· Negotiates contracts on behalf of company
· Evaluates contracts and executes service of agreements
· Maintains accessible purchasing records and generates meaningful reports
· Develops the Vendor Relationship Management System (VRM)
· Develops the Logistic Management system
· Streamlines product transport and reduce shipping costs
· Interfaces with accounting to set up the coding account and control budget
· Establishes KPI’s to assess purchasing performance
· Ensures purchasing practices comply with company policies, procedures, and ethics

· Guides purchasing through internal and external audits

  • Performs other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of five years’ experience in purchasing.
  • Experience managing teams

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversight responsibility for direct reports assigned to the purchasing department

While performing the duties of this job:

  • Employees are frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and machinery.
  • Employees are occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals though all necessary PPE is provided.
  • Employees are exposed to noise levels that are generally moderate; the office area is quiet, and some areas of the machine shop are loud.
  • Employees may be exposed to non-toxic graphite dust, which is classified as a nuisance dust
