Description

PURCHASING MANAGER

Weis Builders is seeking a strategic and results-driven Purchasing Manager to join our Preconstruction Group. This role plays a key part in our national project delivery by leading sourcing initiatives, developing supplier partnerships, and driving value engineering efforts across the country.
Compensation: $125,000–$150,000 annually, based on experience and location
This position can be based out of any Weis Builders office, including Minneapolis, Rochester, Dallas/Austin, Phoenix, Atlanta, or Chicago.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • BA/BS degree or relevant industry experience
  • 5+ years managing suppliers, manufacturers, and trade partners in the construction industry
  • Deep understanding of construction plans, specs, estimating, and cost controls

SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Proven negotiation and communication skills
  • Strong analytical mindset and attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities with a sense of urgency
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Willingness to travel up to 20%
  • Occasional work at construction sites (PPE required)

Responsibilities
  • Develop, negotiate, and execute material sourcing agreements for construction projects nationwide
  • Lead supplier, manufacturer, and trade partner prequalification and onboarding
  • Solicit and evaluate bids from top-tier vendors and trade partners
  • Track and analyze unit pricing and industry trends
  • Negotiate manufacturer fixed pricing and rebate programs
  • Maintain strong supplier/manufacturer networks and align specifications with project stakeholders
  • Provide proactive communication to project teams on trends, lead times, and market shifts
  • Drive material-related value engineering initiatives
