Position Title: Purchasing Officer

Location: Dubai, UAE
Salary: AED 5,000 to AED 7,000 per month
Reports to: Procurement Manager / Purchasing Manager
Job Summary:
AK Building Contracting LLC, a leading construction company in Dubai, is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Purchasing Officer to oversee procurement activities for our construction projects. This role is critical in ensuring the timely and cost-effective purchase of materials, equipment, and services while maintaining high-quality standards. The Purchasing Officer will work closely with project teams to ensure materials are delivered on time and within budget.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Procurement Management: Source and purchase construction materials, equipment, and services as per project requirements, ensuring adherence to specifications, quality, and delivery timelines.
  • Vendor Relations: Establish and maintain strong relationships with local and international suppliers, ensuring competitive pricing, quality assurance, and reliability.
  • Negotiation: Negotiate pricing, terms, and delivery schedules with suppliers to achieve cost savings without compromising quality or project deadlines.
  • Inventory and Stock Management: Monitor stock levels, track material usage, and ensure timely replenishment to meet project requirements while avoiding overstocking.
  • Purchase Orders: Prepare, issue, and track purchase orders (POs), ensuring that all orders align with project timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
  • Market Research: Conduct market research to identify new suppliers, products, and cost-saving opportunities in the construction industry.
  • Budget Management: Collaborate with the procurement team to manage procurement budgets, ensuring materials are purchased within the allocated budget without sacrificing quality.
  • Quality Control: Ensure that all materials and services purchased meet the required quality standards and specifications before they are delivered to project sites.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of procurement activities, including vendor contracts, purchase orders, delivery receipts, and payment documentation. Provide regular procurement reports to management.
  • Compliance: Ensure all procurement activities comply with company policies, industry regulations, and UAE legal requirements.
  • Problem Resolution: Address and resolve any procurement-related issues, including delivery delays, quality discrepancies, or supplier performance concerns.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in procurement or purchasing, preferably within the construction or building contracting industry.
  • Negotiation Skills: Strong negotiation abilities to secure competitive pricing and favorable terms from suppliers and vendors.
  • Attention to Detail: Exceptional attention to detail, ensuring accuracy in all procurement processes and documentation.
  • Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with procurement software or ERP systems; knowledge of construction materials, equipment, and services.
  • Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills in English (Arabic is a plus).
  • Time Management: Excellent organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively.
  • Knowledge of Local Market: Understanding of the Dubai construction market and local supplier networks is highly desirable.

Working Conditions:

  • Type: Full-time
  • Location: Dubai, UAE (Office-based with occasional site visits)
  • Travel: Occasional site visits to monitor material deliveries and meet with suppliers.

Salary: AED 5,000 - AED 7,000 per month, based on experience.
