WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

We are looking to hire dynamic individuals for our recently renovated, modern office in the heart of downtown. The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills, as well as the ability to influence others and manage difficult conversations. They should also have the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, manage multiple tasks simultaneously, and prioritize efficiently to meet deadlines. Enthusiasm for monitoring different markets is a plus.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Prior knowledge of the scrap metal industry is required.
  • A bachelor’s degree in commerce, supply chain management or related fields is preferred.
  • 4+ years of experience in a purchasing or related role is preferred.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills.
  • Proficiency with computer applications, including Microsoft Office and Teams.
  • Strong attention to detail and time management skills.

    Pay: $55,000.00-$80,000.00 per year

Responsibilities
  • Quote pricing for scrap metal bids to suppliers in a timely manner.
  • Resolve claims with suppliers through negotiation while maintaining good relationships.
  • Accurately check purchase orders versus item descriptions, prices, payment terms, and shipping terms against what has been discussed.
  • Attend bi-annual seminars held in various cities across the USA to facilitate business development and expansion.
  • Search for reliable North American suppliers of scrap metal through any means necessary, including cold calling, searching databases, LinkedIn, on-site visits, industry events, etc.
  • Work the lead and do extensive due diligence on new suppliers to ensure future smooth and safe transactions with our company.
  • Maintain good relationships with both old and new suppliers and visit them at their locations as necessary (including travelling to other Canadian provinces and/or travelling to the USA).
  • Communicate and be responsive to local and international stakeholders’ communications.
