Overview The Purchasing Specialist role you will take ownership of complex purchasing activities, supplier relationships, and cost optimization initiatives. You will play a key role in ensuring the timely and cost-effective procurement of materials, goods, and services while maintaining high standards of quality and compliance. This position requires advanced analytical skills, strong negotiation capabilities, and the ability to drive process improvements across the procurement function. What You'll Do Strategic Sourcing: Lead the sourcing and procurement of materials, goods, and services, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and budgetary requirements. Supplier Management: Develop and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers, negotiate contracts, and evaluate supplier performance to ensure quality, reliability, and cost-effectiveness. Cost Optimization: Identify and implement cost-saving opportunities through strategic negotiations, bulk purchasing, and process improvements. Procurement Planning: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to forecast material needs, plan procurement activities, and ensure inventory levels meet production and operational requirements. Compliance and Risk Management: Ensure all procurement activities comply with regulatory requirements, company policies, and ethical standards. Mitigate risks related to supply chain disruptions or supplier issues. Data Analysis and Reporting: Analyze procurement data to identify trends, track spending, and generate reports for management. Use insights to inform decision-making and improve procurement strategies. Process Improvement: Identify inefficiencies in the procurement process and implement solutions to enhance productivity, accuracy, and cost-effectiveness. Contract Management: Draft, review, and manage contracts with suppliers, ensuring favorable terms and conditions for the organization. Collaboration: Work closely with internal stakeholders, including production, finance, and quality assurance teams, to align procurement activities with business needs. Mentorship: Provide guidance and support to procurement staff, such as Purchasing Agents, to foster their professional development. What You'll Need Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field (required). Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in procurement, purchasing, or supply chain management, preferably in a manufacturing or related industry. Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and procurement software is highly desirable. Knowledge and Skills: Advanced understanding of procurement principles, strategic sourcing, and supply chain management. Strong negotiation and contract management skills. Proficiency in data analysis tools (e.g., Excel, Power BI) and procurement software. Knowledge of regulatory requirements and industry standards related to procurement. Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities. Strong organizational and project management skills. Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with internal teams and external suppliers. Ability to lead initiatives and drive process improvements. Physical Requirements: Ability to work in an office environment with occasional visits to production facilities or supplier sites.
