Description:

Position Purpose & Overview
St. John’s School is seeking a dynamic and dedicated PYP French and Learning Support Teacher to join our team of educators. The successful candidate will have a strong background in teaching French within the context of the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (PYP) framework, as well as experience in providing learning support to students with diverse needs. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the development of a vibrant community committed to excellence in education.
Key Responsibilities
Plan, deliver, and assess French language instruction in alignment with the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP) curriculum, ensuring that lessons are engaging, and developmentally appropriate.
Collaborate with PYP classroom teachers to integrate French language learning across the curriculum, fostering interdisciplinary connections and promoting a transdisciplinary approach to teaching and learning.
Provide differentiated support to students with diverse learning needs, including those requiring additional language support, by implementing effective instructional strategies and accommodations.
Design and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) in collaboration with the Learning Support team, classroom teachers, and parents, as applicable.
Conduct ongoing assessments to monitor student progress, identify areas for growth, and provide timely feedback to students, parents, and colleagues.
Maintain accurate records of student achievement, interventions, and accommodations, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and protocols.
Foster a supportive and inclusive learning environment where all students feel valued, respected, and empowered to reach their full potential.
Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance pedagogical knowledge and skills related to language acquisition, inclusive education, and the IB PYP framework.
Collaborate with colleagues to contribute to the development and implementation of school-wide initiatives, such as language immersion programs, cultural events, and community outreach activities.
Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues to share information about student progress, learning goals, and support strategies, maintaining open lines of communication and partnership.
This role will require working hours outside of school office hours: often evening events; occasionally going offsite to document student programs; and occasional morning and weekend commitments.
This job profile outlines the key responsibilities for the roles and is not meant to be exhaustive. This will include performing the administrative and related tasks or any other responsibilities required to reasonably meet the needs of St. John’s School, including, but not limited to the general duties outlined in the position profile.
It should be understood that the activities, responsibilities and obligations of this position may be modified from time to time, through discussion between the direct supervisor and the employee, in order to effectively meet the requirements of the School. On rare occasions where there are urgent needs at the School, an employee may be assigned to temporarily backfill role(s) critical to the school’s operations and business continuity.
