Role Description The Python Instructor will teach small groups of children the fundamentals of Python programming in an on-site classroom setting in Markham, ON. This part-time role involves preparing lesson plans, delivering interactive lessons, guiding students through hands-on coding exercises, and providing individual support as learners work on projects. The instructor will explain core programming concepts, demonstrate live coding examples, and encourage students to experiment and problem-solve. Responsibilities include monitoring student progress, giving constructive feedback, maintaining a safe and inclusive learning environment, and communicating with parents or guardians about student development when needed. The Python Instructor may also collaborate with the team to refine curriculum materials and contribute ideas for new activities or workshops.

Qualifications

  • Strong understanding of Python programming concepts, including variables, loops, conditionals, functions, and basic data structures.
  • Experience teaching or tutoring children or youth, with the ability to explain technical topics in clear, age-appropriate language.
  • Excellent communication and classroom management skills, with a patient, encouraging, and inclusive teaching style.
  • Ability to design and deliver engaging, project-based lessons that promote problem-solving and creativity.
  • Comfort working in an on-site classroom environment in Markham, ON, with reliability for scheduled part-time hours.
  • Prior experience in coding education, STEM programs, or after-school learning centers is an asset.
  • Post-secondary education in Computer Science, Engineering, Education, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
