Your role

As a Python Software Engineer, you will develop the technical foundation of our data-driven and AI-powered solutions. Your focus will be on Python, backend development, data engineering, and data science.

You will accompany projects from the initial technical classification through architecture and implementation to a functional prototype. You will not work in a permanently defined product context, but rather on changing industrial challenges with different partners, data sources, and technical constraints.

You assess what is technically feasible and makes sense, make pragmatic architectural decisions, and ensure that even rapidly developed solutions are based on professional software.

Your tasks

• You will develop modular and maintainable backend applications, APIs, data services and integration components using Python.
• You design cloud-based software and data architectures and connect backend, data, AI, edge and cloud components to create functioning overall systems.
• You will develop robust data pipelines as well as ETL and ELT processes for machine, sensor, image, event and time series data.
• You integrate suitable cloud services, databases, storage and streaming technologies and ensure data quality, traceability and availability.
• You analyze data, develop suitable features, and implement data science and machine learning approaches in a prototypical way.
• You assess data quality, model accuracy, technical feasibility, and the limitations of data-driven solutions.
• You develop and integrate computer vision solutions, for example for visual quality control, condition monitoring or predictive maintenance.
• You help design hardware-software architectures in which cameras, sensors, edge systems, data pipelines, cloud components and AI models work together.
• Together with our partners, you will develop functional prototypes and demonstrators in design sprints, hackathons and co-innovation projects.
• You ensure the quality of your solutions through structured API design, automated tests, code reviews, version control, containerization, CI/CD and traceable documentation.
