What can you expect as a Python Software Engineer at our company?

• Further development of Python-based software for use in our production area, which manufactures high-quality laser systems.
• Connectivity and control of devices, machines and systems via 3rd-party SDKs (various interfaces, e.g. USB, Ethernet, Serial)
• Design and development of web interfaces (e.g. REST APIs, WebSockets)
• Providing end-to-end solutions for the automation and digitalization of production processes
• Analysis of process flows, from the initial assessment to the delivered software solution
• Investigation of errors and evaluation of improvement measures (Continuous Improvement Processes (CIP))
• Creation of CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins/Bitbucket)
• close collaboration with interdisciplinary teams from the fields of engineering, production, R&D and IT

Must-haves - These are the things you absolutely must bring:

• a successfully completed degree in computer science, physics or a comparable qualification
• very good knowledge of Python as well as experience in the software development of maintainable and scalable solutions.
• a basic understanding of plant engineering, machinery or industrial processes
• Knowledge of agile methods and confident use of tools such as Jira
• Hands-on mentality and enjoyment of solving production problems directly on site.
• a high level of self-motivation and a creative, out-of-the-box thinking style
• Good teamwork skills and enjoyment of tackling projects together.
• very good German and English skills, both spoken and written.

Nice to haves - It would be great if you could bring the following:

• Experience in the field of production systems, plants or industrial software
• Knowledge of the development, documentation and integration of web APIs (REST, WebSocket)
• Experience in distributed version control
• Practical experience in DevOps and CI/CD
• Experience in AI-powered software development (e.g., with GitHub Copilot in VS Code)
• Understanding of process analysis and optimization
• Experience in micropositioning or high-precision plant engineering
