Petrow Food Group are recruiting for a Quality Assurance Assistant to join our team in Haverhill.
The successful candidate will support the day-to-day running of the Haverhill – Phoenix Road site by ensuring that all routine quality assurance and quality control activities are performed in a timely manner and to the correct standard.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & ATTRIBUTES:

· Experience working with Quality Management Systems and a working knowledge of HACCP principles.
· Working knowledge in quality within the food industry and GMP would preferred.
· Knowledge and understanding of production methods and raw material and finished goods characteristics is essential.
· Highly numerate and computer literate, ability to prioritise workloads effectively to meet deadlines.
· Excellent communication and presentation skills.
· Ability to work alone with minimal supervision.
· Team player essential.

Responsibilities

· Routine production checks required by the Quality and production systems.
· Checks on the production paperwork to ensure it is correct and has been correctly completed.
· Ensure all production operatives are working using good manufacturing practices and they are labelling product correctly.
· Calibration of scales.
· Metal Detector checks independent from production.
· Monitor seals, coding, weights, correct labels are being used, text print on labels and outers is legible and clear.
· Perform quality checks such as Aw, moisture, sieve test, melt test, etc.
· Taking, correctly labelling and storing retained samples of all products.
· Stand in for the QA Co-ordinator when absent from site.
· Ensure health and safety is actively managed during all work practices, and other persons who may be affected by their acts or omissions at work, will not be affected in a detrimental way.
· Maintaining good food safety practices at all times.
· Ensuring all CCP, Laser, X-ray checks are being carried out in a timely manner.
· Ensuring the clean as you go policy is being adhered to.
· To conduct all raw material intake checks on both product and packaging, including visual, organoleptic and moisture testing. To report out of specification results to the Raw Material Manager, so they can create concessions, or rejections, where necessary.
· To ensure all raw material is accompanied by a valid Certificate of Analysis or C of C as dictated by the supplier approval and goods in procedures.
· To identify and record any product / process non-conformances in relation to food safety, quality and legality and to ensure that all identified corrective actions are carried out and documented to prevent reoccurrence.
· Conduct relevant audits, such as GMP, glass & hard plastic, traceability, etc.
· To take product samples for microbiological testing and shelf-life trials and organise product to be sent to the laboratory for testing as per the microbiological schedule, as well as in extenuating circumstances.
· To take Factory, Environmental and Personnel hygiene swabs, and water samples for analysis, and send to the external laboratory as per documented sampling schedule.
· To communicate clearly to the Technical Manager, and the wider team where necessary, any information that is out of specification, or requires intervention above communication with the staff on line, and supervisors.
· To support the technical function during site or external audits.
· Assist in the development of KPIs and performance metrics to evaluate internal processes.
· Analyse and report on trends in quality data to senior management.
