Description

COMPANY DESCRIPTIONCANN Forecast is an innovative company that uses artificial intelligence to develop decision support tools for the water and municipal infrastructure sector. Our mission is to help municipalities be proactive in the face of aging infrastructure and climate change. Our tools are used by more than 50 municipalities across six provinces, from small towns to some of the largest regions in the country.

  • About the RoleOur platform helps cities optimize their infrastructure management and better adapt to climate change, through a guided web application. We ship improvements often, and every change needs to leave the tool just as correct as it was before. That confidence comes from testing. We are looking for a detail-oriented person to build and maintain the automated end to end tests that verify our software on every change, so the team can deploy with confidence, several times a day, knowing nothing quietly broke.Within a multidisciplinary team combining data science, civil engineering and software development, and working closely with a senior engineer who owns the test architecture, the selected person will contribute to:Writing and maintaining unit and end to end tests for our multi step Flask app, following the team's established patterns and page objects
  • Extending coverage of existing tests across multiple functionalities and scenarios: input and output validation, user navigation, concurrency
  • Triaging results daily, telling a real regression from a flaky test, and keeping the test suite operational, fast and trustworthy
  • Using AI coding assistants (such as Cursor and Claude Code) to draft tests efficiently, paired with careful review of what they produce
  • Working with developers to keep test selectors stable as the application evolves, and helping keep our GitLab CI pipeline reliable

  • PROFILEThe ideal person for this role should have:Exceptional attention to detail: you catch the off by one, the missing validation, the figure produced by the tool that is subtly wrong
  • A degree or diploma in computer science or software engineering, or equivalent practical experience
  • Some Python programming experience, from coursework, internships or personal projects
  • Familiarity with, or a strong interest in, automated testing and how software is verified
  • Comfort with the command line and with version control (Git)
  • Curiosity about AI-assisted development tools, with the judgement to know when to check their output
  • Rigour, autonomy, and clear written and oral communication
  • An interest in municipal infrastructure and in building software that people can depend on
