JOB SUMMARY

The QA Automation Specialist I supports Sonar’s mission of delivering high-quality software by developing and maintaining automated testing solutions. This role focuses on creating automated tests, enhancing test coverage, and collaborating with developers and QA peers to ensure that all applications meet performance, reliability, and quality standards.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent experience.
• 0–2 years of experience in software automated testing.
• Knowledge of QA methodology and testing practices.
• Understanding of basic programming concepts and experience writing automated tests (TypeScript preferred).
• Familiarity with automation tools and frameworks such as Cypress, TypeScript, or JavaScript.
• Experience with test management and bug tracking tools (e.g. Azure, JIRA).
• Understanding of relational database concepts and ability to write SQL queries.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Exposure to PHP, Laravel, Vue.js, or PostgreSQL.
• Experience with CI/CD environments and infrastructure automation.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms and DevOps practices.
• Knowledge of security, performance, and cross-browser testing techniques.
• Interest or experience in AI applications for testing.

PHYSICAL/WORK ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS

• Prolonged periods of sitting or standing at a desk while working on a computer.
• Ability to communicate effectively via virtual platforms (video calls, phone, and email).
• Reliable high-speed internet connection and adequate home office setup for remote work.
• Visual acuity: Good vision is necessary for reviewing detailed documents and data on computer screens.
• Manual dexterity: The ability to use a keyboard, mouse, and other office equipment is required.
• Occasional travel for company meetings, training sessions, or team events.

• Design, develop, and maintain automated test scripts for functional, regression, and integration testing.
• Collaborate with QA team members and developers to define and implement effective test strategies.
• Automate existing manual test cases to improve efficiency and coverage.
• Build and maintain test frameworks, tools, and environments to support quality initiatives.
• Document and troubleshoot software defects, working closely with developers to resolve issues.
• Contribute to CI/CD pipelines by integrating automated tests into deployment processes.
• Stay current on emerging testing technologies and suggest improvements to processes and tools.
