Overview: Reporting to the QA Manager, you will be working cross-functionally throughout the organization to move validated projects to completion.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Diploma/ Degree in Food Science, or a related discipline with three or more years of food safety, related experience is required;
  • Meat industry experience preferred;
  • HACCP and SQF certification preferred;
  • Strong understanding of HACCP, GMP, SQF, SFCR and USDA regulation;
  • Proficient in MS Office (Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint etc.)
  • Exceptional attention to detail, accuracy, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Flexibility and willingness to take on additional tasks and support cross-functional teams.
    Schedule: Monday to Friday from 8am to 5:30pm
    Salary: 50,000 to 60,000 per annum or $22 to $25 per hour

Responsibilities

JOB PURPOSE:

To maintain the company’s quality and food safety vision - by providing strong support to the Safety & Quality Management function including Preventive Controls, HACCP Plan, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), SQF and BRCGS programs. To coordinate Quality Assurance procedures and policies related to product quality and specifications to ensure that incoming materials, the manufacturing process, and all finished products are safe, compliant with regulatory requirements and meet internal and external specifications. The role also involves participating in audits, alternate contact for CFIA, and manage document controls. The ideal candidate will be flexible, able to multitask in a fast-paced environment, and support other duties when needed.

  • Assist in maintaining food safety management system in compliance with regulatory requirements (HACCP, CFIA, USDA, SQF Code, BRC Gluten Free Standard and all customer requirement)
  • Maintain and update HACCP Plans, Validation Studies, SOPs, Work Instructions, Master Documents, and track document changes in coordination with QA Manager
  • Lead and or assist investigation into customer complaints, returned products, respond with needed documentation to customer/regulatory body in timely manner
  • Oversee calibration, pest control program, assist in environmental, product monitoring and tracking
  • Assist QA team in training employees on GMP, quality, regulatory, food safety policies, SOPs and keep training matrix up to date.
  • Responsible for leading and/or assisting the QA Manager in all food safety investigations /risk assessments, and completing the necessary documentation
  • Active role in preparing and participating in all third-party audits/ CFIA inspections
  • Conducts internal audits of food safety quality management system programs outside of QA/QC responsibilities; completes all necessary documentation and follow-ups.
  • Managing CAPA and assisting in Root Cause Analysis for food safety deviations and assist in implementing appropriate corrective action plans
  • Coordinate with various departments in the organization on traceability and mock recall programs
  • Support product development and regulatory team in specification development, raw materials compliance
  • Maintaining track of food safety, quality and culture objectives, and improvement plans
  • Gathering minutes from HACCP and monthly management meetings
  • Other duties as assigned by QA Manager.

SUPPORTING RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support all other departments regarding maintenance of Food Safety and Quality Management System.
  • Represent the company in a professional manner in dealings with regulatory body, customers and any visitors to the facility.
