About the Role You'll be a critical member of our QA team, serving as the technical bridge between firmware developers, desktop software teams, and hardware tech leads. This role combines hands-on hardware testing with modern test automation, requiring both deep technical expertise and strong collaborative skills. Your work directly impacts content creators who depend on our products for their livelihood – from professional streamers capturing 4K144fps gameplay to podcasters requiring flawless audio routing. You'll tackle complex challenges at the intersection of hardware, firmware, and software, ensuring seamless integration across our entire product ecosystem. Key Responsibilities Testing and Validation Execute comprehensive test plans for firmware releases and hardware prototypes Perform protocol compliance testing for USB 3.2/USB4, HDMI 2.1, and wireless interfaces Validate streaming protocols including NDI, RTMP, RTSP, and HLS implementations Conduct extended reliability testing for continuous recording sessions Debug hardware issues using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and protocol analyzers Verify latency metrics (sub-250ms) and frame accuracy for gaming applications Cross-functional Collaboration Interface between QA, firmware development, and desktop software teams Participate in design reviews to ensure testability of new products Present test results and quality metrics to stakeholders Create detailed bug reports with root cause analysis Support hardware tech leads with design-for-test feedback Test Automation and Infrastructure Develop Python scripts for automated hardware testing Implement and maintain CI/CD pipeline integrations Create hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) test frameworks Build custom tools for specialized streaming protocol validation Compliance and Certification Support FCC, CE, and USB-IF certification processes Validate electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) and safety standards Maintain compliance documentation for global market requirements Ensure products meet regional regulatory requirements Required Qualifications Technical Skills Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field 3-5 years of experience in firmware/hardware testing for consumer electronics Programming proficiency in C/C++ for embedded systems and Python for test automation Hardware debugging expertise with oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and multimeters Network protocol knowledge including TCP/IP, UDP, and streaming protocols Experience with test frameworks such as pytest, Unity, or Google Test Domain Knowledge Understanding of USB protocols (USB 2.0/3.x/USB-C) and power delivery Experience with video interfaces (HDMI, DisplayPort) and capture technologies Familiarity with wireless protocols (Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.x) Knowledge of audio/video codecs and encoding standards (H.264, H.265, AAC) Preferred Qualifications Experience with streaming hardware or gaming peripherals Knowledge of OBS Studio and streaming software ecosystems Understanding of HDCP, HDR10, and VRR technologies ISTQB certification or equivalent quality assurance credentials Experience with Agile methodologies adapted for hardware development German language skills (beneficial but not required)
