Job Title: Quality Assurance Engineer
Location: Reston, Virginia (Hybrid)
Salary: DOE + full benefits
Clearance: Active Public Trust (or ability to obtain)

REQUIRED SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS

  • 3-5+ years of experience in application and/or software testing
  • Experience with automated testing using either Selenium IDE or Selenium WebDriver
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust Clearance
  • Analyze performance of existing system and recommend appropriate suites of test scenarios and scripts for to-be systems.
  • Use JMeter to determine the quality of to-be system’s configuration.
  • Analyze code to determine ‘bottlenecks’ and recommend fixes and solutions to improve performance.
  • Agile development practices, break down work in user stories and utilizing tools such as JIRA to track work.
  • Development of Junit unit tests from ground-up.
  • Development of test scripts in behavior and modeling testing framework such as Mockito or Cucumber, EMMA, or Mocha.
  • As a member of the team, effectively communicate the value and use of automated testing scripts. As needed as the SME, assist other program offices with training to develop their own testing scripts
  • Experience in creation and execution of test plans
  • Experience in setting up and managing test environments
  • Experience coding using Java as the primary programming language
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.

PREFERRED SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience in mentoring junior QAs and Prior experience as a Java developer is a big plu
Responsibilities
  • Provide technical and administrative direction for personnel performing software development tasks, including the review of work products for correctness, adherence to the design concept and to user standards, review of program documentation to assure Government standards/requirements are adhered to, and for progress in accordance with schedules.
  • Coordinate with the Project Manager and/or Quality Assurance Manager to ensure that problems are solved to the user’s satisfaction. Make recommendations, if needed, for approval of major systems installations.
  • Responsible for testing all software releases including new features, enhancements, and defects fixes.
  • Manual testing, strong requirements analysis, test writing, and the ability to contribute to automated test effort.
  • Contribute to the design and building of an automation test framework for a complex, highly customizable website.
  • Create detailed, comprehensive, and well-structured test plans and test cases by collaborating with architects, developers, and project managers.
  • Design, build and maintain automated tests and test suites for new features as well as existing functionality in browser, command-line, and API-based applications.
  • Create and manage test data for use by automated test scripts.
  • Perform manual testing according to test plans.
  • Identify, record, thoroughly document and track defects.
  • Augment automated regression test scripts when defects are resolved.
  • Provide feedback and recommendations to project management on software usability and functionality.
