SUMMARY

This position is responsible for overseeing, assuring compliance to and continuously improving Food Safety and Quality Management Systems for Tillsonburg Custom Foods. This will be achieved through direct management of the Food Safety/Quality team at the site, developing and improving process, revising and developing HACCP plans, conducting risk assessments and verifying compliance to established metrics or customer requirements. This position will also facilitate customer complaint investigations, food safety investigations and the corrective/preventive action processes. Additionally, this position will lead the plant team to obtain SQF certification.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Post-secondary education in Food Science would be an asset
  • Management experience of 5 years in FSQA within a food manufacturing environment
  • Experience in basic food chemistry, basic microbiology, allergen controls, auditing, GFSI/SQF, sanitary design and HACCP principles
  • Ability to manage and build a team independently
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to forge partnerships with multiple cross-functional areas (ie Operations, Maintenance, Sanitation) to enhance efficiency
  • Proficient in MS Office tools (Excel and Word)
  • Very Strong interpersonal skills and strong ability to communicate (ie read, speak and write) in English

Responsibilities
  • Deliver HAACP and Food Safety and Quality program updates, maintenance, verifications and function as a cross functional liaison to ensure the plant is meeting regulatory and compliance requirements for all stakeholders
  • Lead third party audits (CVS, HAACP, SQF or customer) and prepare/coach cross functional managers before and during these audits
  • Manage the environmental monitoring for all relevant parts of equipment and areas of the facility.
  • Conduct analysis of sanitation /environmental data to determine root cause of deficiencies and provide sanitation and operations team feedback on performance and necessary improvements
  • Audit and report non-compliance and take corrective actions to assure compliance to all quality assurance food safety requirements on a regular and daily basis
  • Developing a constructive work environment through excellent interpersonal team building skills, open communications, encouraging input and constructive performance management.
  • Supervise QA, QC, and Sanitation Departments
  • Primary contact with onsite CFIA inspectors; respond to weekly CVS reports, and investigations
  • Responsible for monitoring and oversight of Quality Control program
  • Hire direct reports, orientate, and develop training needs to satisfy the Food Safety and Quality program and facility requirements.
