POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
- Completion of a university degree or equivalent.
- Current P.Eng designation in Province of ON as a minimum.
- CSA W47.1 qualifications as a Designated Welding Engineer for Design and Procedures and Practice.
- 7-10 years’ experience working in the Structural Steel Industry.
- Demonstrated experience in Quality Management and coordination of a Quality System.
- Demonstrated experience in Weld Engineering within the Structural Steel Industry.
- Experience or understanding of the ISO:9001 certification as well as the AISC and CISC certifications.
- Knowledge of steel fabrication concepts, practices, and procedures.
- Knowledge in Lean Management / 5S with demonstrated process improvement background.
- Ability to read structural and fabrication drawings.
- Demonstrated proficiency in supporting Production and Project Management in interacting directly with customers, 3rd party consultants, and inspectors.
- Knowledge in Microsoft Suite of Products, AutoCAD, and other drafting softwares (i.e Tekla, Tremble).
- Ability to read structural and fabrication drawings, clearly map process activities, decision points and integration with other processes.
- Organizational skills and the ability to be flexible in managing changing priorities.

Responsibilities:
- Adheres to and maintains of Walters Quality Management System.
- Audits the Quality System periodically and work proactively on maintaining and/or improving the system as well as Quality deficiencies that arise as a result of the system.
- Liaises with the various departments, as required, to ensure consistency of service as well as resolve problems as they arise.
- Reviews new project specifications and drawings and develops Quality Plans and ITP’s.
- Manages Internal and External NCRs; root cause, corrective and preventative actions.
- Manages the welding program at Walters Plants including; Training, Technology, Weld Design, Welding Procedure Development, Problem Solving etc.
- Conducts studies and design, develop and specify the processes, procedures and machinery to carry out welding work for steel, stainless steel and aluminum.
- Maintains the welding program throughout the production facilities as per Walters welding policies and procedures in accordance with CSA W47.1, W59, S16 and other Standard & Codes.
- Develops Standard Operating Procedures for use in Production and other departments.
- Participates in Fabrication planning as well as seeks out ways to incorporate lean manufacturing practices into company procedures. Develops fabrication and welding processes that produce consistent, high-quality outcomes.
- Creates Robotic Welding applications and procedures
