POSITION SUMMARY:

The Quality Assurance Nurse plays a key role in monitoring, evaluating, and improving the quality of patient care within a healthcare organization. This position ensures compliance with regulatory standards, facilitates continuous quality improvement initiatives, and works collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams and MLTC to promote excellence in clinical practice.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Education:
  • Registered Nurse (RN) with an active license.
  • Experience:
  • Minimum 1-3 years of clinical nursing experience.
  • Prior experience in quality assurance, performance improvement, or a similar role preferred.

SKILLS:

  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Proficient with data analysis tools and electronic medical records (EMR).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to carry, lift, push, or pull at least 20lbs

Responsibilities
  • Quality MonitoringReporting:
  • Review patient care data, charts, and records to identify trends and variances.
  • Conduct regular audits to ensure compliance with internal policies, state, and federal regulations.
  • Prepare reports on quality indicators and present findings to leadership.
  • ComplianceRisk Management:
  • Monitor adherence to clinical practice guidelines and healthcare standards CMS, DOH And MLTC
  • Identify and address potential risks to patient safety and recommend corrective actions.
  • Assist with internal and external audits or accreditation processes.
  • Performance Improvement:
  • Collaborate with MLTC to implement performance improvement initiatives.
  • Develop and maintain quality improvement (QI) plans.
  • Educate staff on quality standards, procedures, and outcomes measurement.
  • TrainingEducation:
  • Provide training sessions on documentation standards, safety protocols, and quality benchmarks.
  • Train new nurses on UAS clinical/non- clinical documentation for MLTC/NHTD
  • Support ongoing professional development of clinical staff through evidence-based practices.
  • Data Management:
  • Use health information systems and quality tools to track metrics and outcomes.
  • Analyze data to guide decision-making and recommend process improvements.
  • Attend MLTC Meetings as required
  • Create and provide QA reports when needed
