Job Description

JOB SUMMARY:

The QA/QC Inspector for an Infrastructure Works Project is responsible for ensuring that all construction activities meet the required quality standards and comply with project specifications, safety regulations, and contractual obligations. This role involves inspecting materials, workmanship, and processes during construction, conducting quality tests, identifying defects, and recommending corrective actions. The QA/QC Inspector works closely with the project team, contractors, and subcontractors to ensure consistent quality control throughout the project lifecycle, from the start of construction to project completion.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Materials Science, or related field with 7+ years of experience in laboratory materials testing and field inspection.
  • Certified Quality Inspector (CQI) or similar professional certification required.
  • Thorough knowledge of construction materials, methods, and quality control procedures.
  • Familiarity with relevant industry standards, including ASTM, ACI, and AASHTO specifications.
  • Experience with quality management systems and ISO 9001 standards.
  • Proficiency in conducting various field and laboratory tests, including concrete, soil, and asphalt testing.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with diverse stakeholders.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and technical documents.

Responsibilities
  • Quality Control Inspections:
  • Perform regular inspections of materials, equipment, and construction activities to ensure they meet project specifications, quality standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Inspect the construction process and verify that workmanship aligns with the approved plans, designs, and applicable standards.
  • Monitor construction activities to ensure that quality assurance measures are being followed by contractors and subcontractors.
  • Testing & Material Compliance:
  • Conduct tests on materials and construction processes, such as concrete strength tests, soil compaction, asphalt testing, and others, to ensure compliance with project specifications and industry standards.
  • Review test results and ensure that corrective actions are taken when materials or work do not meet required standards.
  • Verify that all materials used in the project are approved and meet quality, safety, and environmental standards.
  • Non-Conformance & Corrective Actions:
  • Identify and document non-conformance issues, including materials, processes, and workmanship that do not comply with project specifications.
  • Prepare and issue Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) and work with the project team to determine appropriate corrective actions.
  • Track and verify the resolution of non-conformance issues, ensuring that the corrective measures are effective and documented.
  • Quality Assurance Monitoring:
  • Ensure that the project’s quality management system is being properly implemented by the construction team, including adherence to quality procedures, inspection protocols, and project standards.
  • Conduct regular audits and reviews of quality management processes to ensure compliance with contractual requirements.
  • Monitor and report on quality performance across various stages of the project to identify areas for improvement.
  • Documentation & Reporting:
  • Maintain accurate records of inspections, tests, reports, NCRs, and corrective actions for quality assurance and auditing purposes.
  • Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly quality reports to update project management on quality control progress and any issues encountered.
  • Ensure that all documentation is filed properly and available for review during inspections and project audits.
  • Collaboration with Stakeholders:
  • Work closely with the project management team, contractors, and subcontractors to address quality-related concerns and ensure proper communication of quality standards.
  • Participate in project meetings and provide updates on quality performance, highlight issues, and propose solutions for ongoing quality improvement.
  • Health, Safety, & Environmental Compliance:
  • Ensure that quality control activities are carried out in compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
  • Monitor worksite safety practices related to quality inspections and ensure that quality-related safety issues are addressed promptly.
  • Ensure that quality control procedures support the project’s environmental goals, minimizing waste and ensuring sustainable practices.
  • Material Handling & Storage:
  • Monitor the storage, handling, and usage of materials on-site to ensure compliance with project specifications and prevent material degradation.
  • Ensure that materials are stored correctly to avoid damage and contamination, and that only approved materials are used in construction.
  • Punch List Management:
  • Assist in the preparation and management of punch lists, identifying incomplete or defective work that needs to be corrected before final project handover.
  • Verify that all punch list items are completed in accordance with quality standards and project specifications.
  • Final Inspection & Project Handover:
  • Participate in final project inspections to verify that all construction activities and materials are in compliance with project requirements and quality standards.
  • Ensure that all required documentation for quality control and testing is complete and provided to the client upon project completion for handover.
  • Continuous Improvement & Feedback:
  • Identify trends and recurring issues in quality control and suggest improvements to processes, procedures, or practices to enhance overall project quality.
  • Provide feedback to the project team on quality assurance performance, helping to drive continuous improvement throughout the project lifecycle.
