Description
The QA/QC Inspector is responsible for ensuring that all inspection, testing, and documentation activities meet company, client, and regulatory requirements. This role supports quality assurance and quality control functions across maintenance, construction, and inspection projects, including performing ultrasonic thickness testing (UTT). Must provide documented 40hr classroom and OJT training and pass company Test.   This position will be responsible for driving Kakivik's Mission, Vision, and Values, a crucial part of the strategic plan to drive success. Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions * Conduct quality inspections on mechanical, structural, and piping systems to verify compliance with applicable codes, standards, and project specifications * Perform and document ultrasonic thickness testing (UTT) after completing required company UTT testing. * Interpret and evaluate inspection results, identify deficiencies, and recommend corrective actions * Verify materials, welds, coatings, and installations meet quality standards and client requirements * Review and maintain inspection reports, QA/QC documentation, and turnover packages * Ensure compliance with applicable industry standards (API, ASME, AWS, etc.) * Coordinate with field personnel, supervisors, and clients to resolve quality issues * Witness and document testing activities (pressure testing, coating inspections, etc.) * Maintain calibration and proper use of inspection and testing equipment   Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: * Knowledge of nondestructive testing (NDT) methods, specifically ultrasonic testing principles * Familiarity with applicable industry codes and standards (API, ASME, AWS, NACE, etc.) * Understanding of QA/QC processes, procedures, and documentation requirements * Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, P&IDs, and specifications * Strong attention to detail and accuracy in inspection and reporting * Proficiency in Microsoft Office and inspection/reporting software * Ability to perform UTT thickness scanning following training and demonstrated competency * Ability to work independently and in team environments in field conditions * Maintain 100% “Safety Standards and Accountability” in all areas or mandatory/regulatory requirements, which include: * Maintain compliance with required HSE Training. * Taking necessary action when behaviors or conditions around you may be unsafe. * Reporting and addressing all potential safety concerns/incidents/issues promptly and willingly participate and assist in any investigation that may relate to a safety incident. * Performs work in strict compliance with permitting requirements, Alaska Safety Handbook (ASH) Standards and other compliance-oriented directives. * Participating in safety meetings, working safely, and maintaining a safe work environment as an employee and representative of Kakivik * Document and record any injury or near miss incident that may occur while you are working. * Demonstrate and promote safe work practices by participating in JSA reviews, pre-job walkdowns and safety START card preparations covering work activities and materials required by the company and the client. * Promote and participate in Safety Programs. * Other duties as assigned. Qualifications REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: * Valid driver license * Minimum 2–5 years of QA/QC or inspection experience in industrial, oil & gas, or construction environments * Completion of 40-hour Ultrasonic Testing (UT) training * Documented On-the-Job Training (OJT) and demonstrated competency to perform UTT thickness scanning * Basic knowledge of NDT methods and inspection techniques Preferred Qualifications: * NDT Level I or II (UT, MT, PT, etc.) in accordance with SNT-TC-1A * Experience performing ultrasonic thickness testing in field environments * Experience with mechanical integrity programs or asset integrity inspections * Previous experience working with industrial service companies or on multi-discipline projects   WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Level 1, 2, 3 * MOBILITY: Must be able to access all controls and all parts of machinery for service.  Must be able to push/pull 50 pounds for 20 feet. * HEARING: Must be able to hear audible safety alarms. * VISUAL ACUITY: Must be adequate to perform above listed tasks in a safe manner and take hand signals from ground man or flag man. * LIFTING: Must be able to routinely lift up to 50 pounds from floor to waist, 30 pounds from wait level to shoulder height and carry 50 pounds for 20 feet. * RANGE OF MOTION: An objective range of motion measurements will be conducted and recorded using a five position and rapid exchange grip strength test during the pre-hire/post offer FCE.
