Description

As a QA Lead, you will sit across multiple projects and be accountable for all testing activities across Janison’s products, including our flagship online assessment platform. Reporting to the Head of QA, you will lead and develop Quality Analysts embedded in several agile squads, covering in-sprint and end-to-end testing, test automation, performance testing and UAT.

You will own test strategies, defect management and test reporting, and be a trusted quality voice for client stakeholders. You will work closely with Project Managers, Product Owners, Developers and clients to embed quality throughout delivery. This role suits an experienced quality professional who combines hands-on testing depth with strong leadership and client engagement skills. Around 30% of the role is hands-on testing and automation, with the remainder focused on leadership, test strategy and client engagement.

Duties & Responsibilities

Test leadership and strategy

  • Own all testing activities across multiple projects, from planning through to release.
  • Define, own and maintain test strategies and test plans, including for projects with multiple application dependencies.
  • Set the approach for functional, regression, end-to-end and non-functional testing, aligned to QA standards set by the Head of QA.
  • Identify quality risks early and agree mitigations with delivery teams and clients.

Product and platform quality

  • Tailor test approaches to each product’s users, risks and release cadence.
  • For our online assessment platform, ensure readiness for high-stakes exam windows, including peak load testing and safeguarding candidate responses.

People leadership

  • Lead, coach and manage Quality Analysts working across multiple squads.
  • Allocate QA capacity across projects and squads, balancing priorities and deadlines.
  • Set goals, give regular feedback and support the growth of each team member.
  • Promote consistent testing practices and knowledge sharing across squads.

In-sprint and end-to-end testing

  • Ensure QAs in each squad embed testing within the sprint, including story refinement, test design and acceptance against criteria.
  • Plan and coordinate end-to-end and integration testing across squads and systems.
  • Ensure traceability from business and technical requirements to test cases and results.

Test automation and performance testing

  • Spend around 30% of your time hands-on, designing and executing tests and contributing to test automation.
  • Manage the automation approach across projects, including framework choices, coverage targets and CI/CD integration.
  • Guide QAs in designing and maintaining automated tests, and review their quality.
  • Plan and oversee performance and other non-functional testing for medium to large scale initiatives, and communicate results and risks.

UAT, defect management and reporting

  • Plan and manage UAT with clients, including entry and exit criteria, scheduling, support and sign-off.
  • Own the defect management process, including triage, prioritisation and tracking defects to resolution.
  • Produce test progress, test summary and defect reports for internal and client audiences.
  • Provide go/no-go quality recommendations for releases.
