Description

Sunflower Kitchen – makers of vegan, gluten-free, non-GMO and organic hummus, dips, and soups – is looking for a self-motivated, active, engaged, and detail-oriented Quality Assurance Supervisor to work on our production floor and lead daily QA operations within a food production context.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and implement the FSSC 22000 and HACCP Program.
  • Ensure the HACCP PRP, OPRP, and CCP are being maintained through proper, timely, diligent record-keeping of monitoring and verification activities.
  • Coordinate internal and external audits and inspections with certification bodies and government agencies.
  • Manage and participate in internal and external food safety audits (GMP, Gluten-free, Kosher, Organic, FSSC 22000, etc) and act on deviations found.
  • Maintain supplier approval program and coordinate food supply chain documentation.
  • Carry out root cause analyses and implement preventive and corrective action on food safety deviations and customer complaints.
  • Train employees of Good Manufacturing Practices, food safety and quality procedures, and work instructions.
  • Organize and carry out mock recalls/traceability exercises as needed.
  • Manage analytical testing schedule in coordination with Production Supervisor and QA team, coordinate sample collection for laboratory analysis and in-house testing, conduct shelf-life studies and sensory panels.
  • Oversee and perform daily quality inspections on products while ensuring quality records are filled immediately. Enforce GMPs, SOPs, and Allergen program.
  • Lead and participate in Health & Safety Committee discussions and post minutes and communications when needed.

Experience and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Food Science or related field (e.g. chemistry, microbiology).
  • 3-5 years of experience in a similar role in food manufacturing.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of FSSC 22000 (or similar GFSI-level certification), as well as HACCP training and certification.
  • Hands-on leadership with strong communication skills and the ability to build a collaborative team.
  • Physically active, able to stand for long periods of time throughout the day, and withstand hot and cold environments.
  • General knowledge of food traceability software, electronic forms, and QMS such as Safety Chain, SG Traceability, Forms on Fire, etc. is an asset.
  • Comfortable with MS Office Suite including Excel and Outlook.
  • Self-driven, organized and motivated individual with strong work ethics.

Job Types: Full-time, Fixed term contract
Contract length: 12 months
Pay: $28.00 per hour
