Description

PROFILE:

Full-time day shift position. Reporting to QA Manager, QA Technician is responsible for supporting overall compliance to Food Safety and Quality System Program and SQF Program, ensuring all Quality Assurance activities in the facility are appropriately executed per CFIA, FDA, and SQF standards.

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:

  • Minimum undergraduate degree in Food Science /Microbiology /Chemistry /Food Safety or related field
  • Proficient in computer systems (Outlook, Microsoft Office)
  • 6 month to 3 years Quality Assurance experience in a food manufacturing setting
  • Knowledge of GMPs and HACCP
  • Analytical decision making and problem solving independently
  • Highly organized with a strong focus on detail and accuracy
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Strong time management skill to multitask and prioritize on a daily basis
  • Ability to follow and enforce all food safety rules and regulations
  • Perform well under pressure in a fast paced environment
  • Excellent communication and interpretation skills
  • Knowledge of SQF or other GFSI standards an asset
  • Training experience an asset
  • Maintain confidentiality and integrity
  • Strong Self-learning skills
  • Chinese language skill is an asset

Responsibilities

QA RESPONSIBILITIES (REPORTING TO HACCP COORDINATOR):

  • Perform CCP checks, conformity of WIP product, finished products throughout the manufacturing process to ensure all procedures are fully implemented and to confirm acceptance to required specifications;
  • Verify daily /weekly /monthly production/sanitation records, including CCPs
  • Perform daily pre-op and GMP monitoring
  • Verify receiving log and CoA daily
  • Conduct weekly environmental swab sampling and Conduct monthly clean equipment swabs to verify sanitation effectiveness
  • Submit food samples for external lab and determine disposition upon CoA release
  • Prepare sample analysis request form for external lab testing
  • Maintain non-food chemical list and MSDS of all chemicals
  • Organizing and filing all records/documents in a timely manner
  • Assist with supplier approval program, including supplier profile, product specifications, LoG, supplier questionnaire
  • Assist new product development
  • Create and print in-house product labels
  • Participate in continuous improvement projects (product development, HACCP plan, SQF, customer complaints, etc.)
  • Maintain customer complaint log and non-conformance product log
  • Write QA/QC SOPs and facilitate other SOP development and revision
  • Conduct monthly inspection
  • Perform monthly allergen validation
  • Assist internal and external audits as required
  • Report any discrepancies to supervisor in a timely manner
  • Train staff in GMPs/SOPs as required
  • Communicate clearly and respectfully to all levels of employees
  • Perform other duties as required
