Description

Hours per week: 40 hours
Schedule: Days - Afternoons and Weekends ( total of 40h)
Duration: May to August - Open to the possibility for students to start part time before the end term.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and written.

MINIMUM EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:

  • Currently enrolled in or graduated from Food Science, Food Technology, Microbiology, Science, or related field of study. 2nd, 3rd, or 4th year
  • Previous experience in food manufacturing or laboratory testing an asset.
  • Proficient computer skills; working knowledge of MS Office, SAP, QMS software.

Responsibilities

GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

Burnbrae Farms in Brockville has an exciting opportunity for a Full Time Quality Assurance Technician Summer Student. The incumbent is responsible for performing laboratory and other functions, as assigned, to support the Quality Assurance department. This is an opportunity to gain work experience in a food production environment and would be a great fit for a student who is passionate about biology, biotechnology, and/or food sciences.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform finished product organoleptic and microbiological tests.
  • Hold/Release finished product using the SAP platform.
  • Create and submit finished product COAs to customers.
  • Conduct shelf-life testing for finished products and enter results into database.
  • Complete scheduled Environmental Monitoring Program swabs and samples.
  • Conduct lab equipment verification and monitoring tasks.
  • Actively participate in Proficiency testing and reporting.
  • Other duties as assigned by the QA Manager.
